AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -
Some new art and photography is coming to Auburn University's Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art.
On Tuesday night, News Leader 9 spoke with contemporary artist Gordon Watkinson about his upcoming exhibit there, which examines the contributions of the Staatliches Bauhaus to modern architecture and design.
The German architect Walter Gropius founded the Bauhaus school in 1919, which emphasized the creation of classical forms without ornamentation.
Watkinson documented 12 of the most significant examples of Bauhaus architecture in more than 100 photographs for the exhibition.
Bauhaus architects embraced technology and design that could appear current to museum visitors despite being developed in the early 20th century.
