Verizon to co-sponsor Hispanic Leadership meeting at UPS Corporate Headquarters
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) January 22, 2013
As the New Year begins, Hispanics are well-positioned to become gamechangers by leveraging their generous purpose and cultural promise to move America forward. Acting as a catalyst in this movement is the Center for Hispanic Leadership Atlanta Chapter which will hold its first meeting / symposium of the year on January 24 to be held at UPS corporate headquarters and co-sponsored by Verizon.
“At this moment in time, Latinos are at a historic crossroads in changing our country’s prosperity landscape,” explains CHL Atlanta Chapter President Marisa Salcines, CHL Atlanta Chapter President. “With more than 50 million Latinos strong, we are still lacking significant influence and impact. We need to leverage those inherent characteristics all Latinos share in order to develop our authentic voice and accelerate our advancement to the next level.”
CHL Atlanta welcomes all professionals, students, and businesses to learn more about how Hispanics can become part of the change that will fuel the country’s economic engine by tapping into Hispanics’ sense of generous purpose. “CHL cares deeply about the Latino community and has served as a cornerstone for the advancement of Hispanics,” explains CNN correspondent Nick Valencia, who will be the keynote at this week’s meeting, which is sponsored by Verizon.
Historically, Hispanics have created obstacles in its own journey to advancement and success. “We must unite to empower ourselves as Hispanic professionals,” says CHL Founder, Glenn Llopis, a contributor to Forbes, the Huffington Post, and the Harvard Business Review. “This begins by being transparent with one another and sharing our intentions, challenges, goals and objectives - openly. We must activate our generous purpose within our own community. We can work smarter together.”
Adds Salcines, “CHL’s research shows that Hispanics are underserved in professional development that focuses on leveraging their cultural heritage. “For many years, Latinos have felt forced to assimilate in the workplace, but are now ready to reach for success by learning how to leverage their heritage and utilize their unique skills.”
Recognizing the high demand for Hispanic-tailored resources for professionals, business owners, and corporations, CHL Corporate recently launched the Hispanic Training Center. This innovative online training center is the first and only interactive platform for and about Hispanics that serves as the vehicle to enable culturally-relevant training with its local market chapter partners such as the CHL Atlanta Chapter. Unlike other membership programs where you pay to become part of a network, CHL Chapter membership is free when you sign up to complete Level 1 Certification on HTC.
“As a professional in the corporate world and a Latina leader,” explains Salcines, who shared that on January 24th CHL Atlanta Chapter meeting which will feature a drawing for a chance to win a three-month subscription to Hispanic Training Center courtesy of Verizon. “CHL’s certification program provided me with real-world business and leadership skills that I applied to my job the very next day.”
