City partners with Vision Internet to build engaging government website to transform one of America’s last hometowns

The City of Pacific Grove recently launched a new government website. Accessed at http://www.ci.pg.ca.us, the redeveloped website has transformed and elevated the overall access to important City information and online services.

“Regardless of technical expertise, city staff members can update and manage the new website with ease because of the intuitive functionality of the visionCMS™,” noted Vision Internet Project Manager, Jason Schatz. “The flowing design and simplistic accessibility is a perfect online continuation of Pacific Grove’s friendly, helpful small-town feel.”
To optimize usability, an intuitive navigation system was put into place. The main navigation utilizes super menus that give site visitors a complete snapshot of up to three navigation levels. These menus share a wealth of well-organized content with a simple hover over the main menu.
“In addition to improving the compatibility of the technology, the website’s aesthetic design was also transformed to make citizens feel at home upon entering the site,” continued Schatz. “We’ve built a new dynamic homepage to share the latest and most important City information, as well as breath-taking photographs of the Pacific Grove community.”
Other design improvements include scrolling information sections for upcoming events and meetings, as well as recent community news stories. Graphic icons draw site visitors to frequently visited pages such as the Pacific Grove Golf Links, emergency preparedness, and more.
