The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is reporting widespread geographic flu activity in 48 states for the week of January 6-12. That number is up from 47 the week before.
Thirty-eight states, including Alabama, now report high influenza-like illnesses. That number is up from 24 states the week prior.
Health experts say anyone with the flu or a flu-like illness should stay home from work until they have gone at least 24 hours without a fever.
