HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Jail records show a Madison County judge denied bond for a murder suspect accused of dumping the victim's body in the woods in North Huntsville. A woman also charged in the case has a $50,000 bond.
Mercedes Lynea Douglas and Randle Earl Hewlett are charged with the murder of John Mark Allen of Toney.
Huntsville Police found Allen's body in the woods near Spragins Hollow Road on January 14.
The investigation began on January 12, when Huntsville Police responded to a call of shots fired and a body near Arcadia Circle. When officers got to the scene they found blood in the parking lot, but no body.
Witnesses told police they saw a Cadillac leave the scene. The next day, officers found a Cadillac abandoned near Spragins Hollow Road, where officers eventually found Allen's body.
Douglas remains in the Huntsville-Madison County Metro jail on $50,000 bond. Hewlett is in jail without bond.
