GUNTERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The search for a suspect in the Tennessee River brought a historic discovery.

Crews spent days searching for Deonta Griffin after he led several agencies on a chase and then jumped from Veterans Memorial Bridge. There is no sign yet of Griffin, but one discovery could solve another mystery.

Well known singer Pat Upton played with other well known musicians many years ago.

He, of course, saved some memorabilia. Some was stolen back in the 1990's, but he recently got some of it back.

"Got a call from a guy said, 'Pat, this is Frank down at the Rescue Squad.' He said, 'We just drug up a pillow case full of your stuff,'" said Upton.

Upton never believed he would see jewelry and memorabilia stolen from his home 16 years ago.

Upton played for four years with Ricky Nelson

"I worked for Rick four years before I moved here and I had a backstage pass that I had kept from those days," he said.

In 1985, Nelson came to Guntersville to play at a downtown night spot owned by Upton, but Nelson's flight out of Guntersville was a tragic one. He died when his plane crashed in Texas.

So when rescue teams were looking for a bridge jumper last week, they found memorabilia of Upton's on the river bottom, including that backstage pass.

While he's happy to get it back, he's especially happy for his wife, Lynn, to get some of her most cherished jewelry back.

"Bracelets that her mother gave her and her mother wore," he said.

Upton said whatever can be refurbished will be.
