COLBERT COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
Two Shoals men were arrested for allegedly stealing copper from
AT&T and Verizon.
Throughout November, December and January Verizon reported
numerous break-ins to their Shoals towers. Copper was stolen from all the
towers.
AT&T also reported a copper theft from one of their towers.
Cherokee Police located Dana Hughs and Dewayne Riser at a Highway
72 gas station. Police said they found rolls of copper, cables and copper ground
bars in the bed of their truck.
Hughs and Riser were arrested and charged with various theft and
burglary charges.
Investigators were able to connect the men to a total of 21 tower
thefts across Alabama and Mississippi.
