ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -
A Limestone County judge set a trial date for a former Morgan County deputy accused of domestic violence and attempted murder.
Donald Fanning is charged with domestic violence, domestic violence by strangulation or suffocation, and attempted murder.
Investigators say he strangled the victim until she passed out. The grand jury indictment states he also punched the woman in the face and slammed her head on to the ground.
Fanning will go to trial February 25 at the Limestone County Courthouse in Athens.
