PALESTINE, TX (KLTV) -
Palestine Police are investigating a shooting incident.
Wednesday around 9:00 p.m. officers were called to Palestine Regional Medical Center concerning a victim with a gunshot wound. 31-year-old Edgar Torres of Palestine was shot on his right side.
Torres told police that the shooting happened in the 400 block of Cherokee Street while he was looking a handgun that he was going to buy. Then the gun went off and he was hit in the side. Palestine Police say Torres was unable to name anyone else who was there when the gun discharged.
Based on the information they were given by Torres officers determined he was in Green's Park at the time of the incident, but there was no evidence of a shooting there.
Thursday night, Torres was in stable condition at Palestine Regional Medical Center. His injuries were not life-threatening.
Palestine Police tells us the case is still under investigation.
