The ninth-ranked University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team will look to bounce back from its tough loss to Delta State when it faces Union on the road Thursday at 8 p.m. The Chargers enter the game with a record of 12-2 (5-1 Gulf South Conference), while Union holds a mark of 3-10 (1-4 GSC).
The contest counts in the GSC standings, but Union is not yet eligible for postseason play as the program continues working towards full GSC membership.
The Chargers shot an uncharacteristic 30.2 percent from the field in the setback to Delta State on Saturday, but the team continues to lead the conference in shooting as it sits atop the GSC with a 49.6 field goal percentage on the season.
The team is led by Conner Blasi who is shooting at a 60.4 percent clip from the floor, while Zane Campbell hits his shots at a 57.3 percent rate to rank fifth in the league among those with at least three field goals per game.
In addition to leading the league in shooting, the Chargers also rank tops in the conference in free throw percentage (74.7 percent), 3-point field goal percentage (42.3 percent), 3-point field goals made (10.6), assists (17.2), and assist/turnover ratio (1.2).
Thursday night's meeting marks the first-ever between UAH and Union.
The Bulldogs have lost five of their last six including an 80-63 loss at North Alabama this past Saturday. In that contest, Union was led by Anthony Freeman with 21 points, while Roy Bullock added 15. Freeman paces the team offensively as he averages 14.7 points per contest.
Live stats and video for the contest will be available at www.uuathletics.com, and the game will be carried locally in the Tennessee Valley on 97.7 The Zone.
