BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -
The President's speech today over a new $500 million gun violence package did not go over well with several local gun owners.
As gun owners watched President Obama's remarks this morning, some couldn't contain their skepticism about his intentions, verbally mocking him the president as he outlined his goals.
Most of the gun owners at Hoover Tactical Firearms said they see these proposals as an infringement on their 2nd amendment rights and do not believe banning assault weapons would stop mass shootings.
"My heart goes out to all these people, but you cannot legislate morality. But you're not gonna stop these people by taking the guns away from honest, hard-working citizens," gun owner Curtis Nesbitt said. Hoover Tactical Firearms says it cannot keep most of its semi-automatic weapons and ammo in stock and that's reportedly happening all across the country.
The manager says he expects his business to pick up even more after today's speech.
