BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal said he believes the President is abusing
his authority. This comes after President Barack Obama spoke to the nation
about his proposed gun package.
Governor Jindal said released the following statement through a spokesman:
"As a strong
supporter of Constitutional gun rights, the Governor believes the President is
wrong to use a school shooting to undermine the Second Amendment. The President
is abusing his authority by taking action without Congress and seeking to
restrict responsible, law-abiding citizens' access to firearms and ammunition.
Instead, Governor Jindal supports common-sense legislation that will protect
our kids and keep guns out of the hands of the seriously mentally ill through
enhanced mental health reporting standards."
