COLBERT COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
Emergency managers are keeping a close watch on the Tennessee River.
Officials estimate the river could crest around 21 feet on Friday.
They said at some point all the extra water in the river will have to pass through the Shoals.
TVA officials opened several spillways on Wilson Dam to help move the water through as quickly as possible.
Not only are EMA officials keeping a close eye on the Tennessee River, they're also watching the roadways.
Water completely covered parts of 6th Street near Fennel Road in Leighton.
Several drivers made their way across the flooded road, but as the rain continues to fall, the water there will only get deeper - as well as everywhere else.
Use caution if you have to get out.
If you see water covering a road, it's best to turn around and go another way.
