HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
The rain didn't stop dozens of people from getting out to discuss ways to keep students safe at school.
The Huntsville and Madison PTA groups held a school safety forum at Columbia High School Tuesday night.
The event was planned after the deadly shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut.
Parents said they came out to learn about security procedures.
"It's really important that we kind of understand what's happening in our school systems and that we know what the procedures are for our children to keep them safe," said parent Angela Ryder.
The forum included school leaders, local police, a pediatric counselor, and an analyst from the FBI.
