DEKALB COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

The DeKalb County man charged with a shooting at a Fred's store pleaded not guilty.

Kelly Jack Mayo waived an arraignment hearing set for Tuesday.

His lawyer instead entered a plea of not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.

The trial date is unknown at this time.
