MUSCLE SHOALS, AL (WAFF) -
A fired Muscle Shoals police officer will not get his job back. Greg Scoggins testified before the Civil Service Board Tuesday afternoon.
The board decided to uphold their decision to terminate Scoggins. The decision was unanimous.
He was fired for shooting a deer on federal property while on duty. The mayor previously upheld the termination.
The city spent about an hour and a half calling witnesses to the stand during Tuesday's hearing. Witnesses included Scoggins, the captain on duty, an employee from the water department, and a dispatcher.
The board denied the defense to call their eight witnesses. Scoggins' defense said their witnesses would prove the city has bias and selective prosecution for their employees. The defense also said they can also unveil other "sins of the city."
The hearing lasted nearly four hours before deliberations started.
