HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for portions of north Alabama and southern Tennessee through early Tuesday afternoon.

Rain and some freezing rain remain in the forecast today.  Additional icing is expected primarily in NW Alabama and southern Tennessee and will primarily occur on trees, power lines and other elevated surfaces.  Roads should remain just wet in most areas.

By this afternoon we'll transition to all liquid precipitation.   Temperatures today remain cold with highs only in the low 40s.  The chance for rain is 100%.

More wet weather will move through tonight.  Lows will be in the mid 30s.

Additional rain is expected tomorrow with highs in the mid to upper 40s.  One more batch of wet weather will pass through on Thursday.  A few snowflakes could mix in with the rain, however at this point we don't anticipate any accumulation.  Highs Thursday will be in the mid 40s.

Dry weather finally returns for Friday with temperatures making their way back into the low 50s.

Right now the weekend looks quiet.  We'll see some sunshine and highs in the mid 50s Saturday.

Another cold front will bring in chillier weather on Sunday with temperatures dropping back into the 40s.

The rain caused problems Tuesday in Jackson County. County Road 31 in Pikeville is closed due to flooding.
