HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A Winter Weather Advisory stretched from the Shoals all the way into parts of Madison County on Monday. Throughout the day, officials reported ice and freezing rain all over trees and power lines.

Drivers had mixed reactions to the roads in Athens.

"Some of it was a little frozen coming out this way [from Florence], but the streets and breeze were fine," said Ricky Tague.

"In certain parts of the area it was pretty bad," said Josh Bohn. "I'm actually a radio engineer and Capshaw Mountain got really bad tonight."

The rain tailed off by the late evening.

Limestone County and Athens Utilities reported several power outages, but crews were able to restore them quickly.

In Madison County, Monte Sano Mountain turned into a winter wonderland. Frozen trees, frozen power lines, and frozen road signs greeted drivers into the night.

Huntsville Utilities reported one power outage on the mountain. Neighbors reported electricity restored in minutes.

Monday's storm was the area's first Winter Weather Advisory of 2013.
