My Take - Character and the BCS

Congratulations to Alabama for winning its second BCS championship in a row. The victory for The Tide represents four years in a row that an Alabama team has won college football's biggest prize. As inspiring as the teams have been, I was particularly inspired by who wasn't with the Alabama team for this year's big game. Two Alabama players were absent from the game. Those players were sent home by coach Saban for not following team rules. Too often too many passes are given to people who refuse to follow the rules. If more people in our society were willing to make sure there are consequences for kid's actions, we would surely see a lot less adults acting like children. Someone told me they thought it had to be hard for Coach Saban to send those two players home before the big game. I bet it wasn't a hard call at all. SabAn believes accountability and character are critical components to success and that true success isn't possible without them. I believe the same thing - not just in sports but in life.
