It is a big job to educate our future leaders. It is equally as big of a job to keep them safe while at school. We've seen a lot of talk about school safety in the weeks after the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary Some have suggested arming teachers with guns while others want more security in schools. All of these ideas have been talked about in school districts and by our legislature. I am not advocating one approach over another. I do feel it is good to see our leaders taking time and talking about the best solutions instead of adopting a knee-jerk reaction. We'll be watching the legislature to see what direction our schools will take as far as security. I don't believe anything can be done to make our schools completely safe and secure, but I do feel our state and our local schools are moving in the right direction by reviewing procedures and looking to take extra precautions.
