Louisville native nominated for Best Actress

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Jennifer Lawrence, the Louisville native who made a splash on the silver screen with her role in Hunger Games, has received an Academy Award nomination for her latest work.

Lawrence was one of five women who received a nomination for the Best Performance by an Actress. Lawrence had a leading role in Silver Linings Playbook.

The film was also nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Picture category.

Her nomination comes the morning after Lawrence won three People Choice awards for Hunger Games.

Receiving nominations along with Lawrence were Naomi Watts for The Impossible, Jessica Chastain for Zero Dark Thirty, Emmanuelle Riva for Amour, and Quvenzhane Wallis for Beasts of the Southern Wild.

At age 85, Riva is the oldest best Actress nominee in Oscar history. Wallis, 9, is the youngest.
