HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Multiple homes were evacuated in Huntsville after a car crashed into a gas line early Thursday morning.
The vehicle lost control and ran over a gas line at 430 Edgemont Drive around 6 a.m.
The driver was not injured, but the home and a house next to it had to be evacuated due to the gas leak.
Huntsville Police and Huntsville Utilities responded. Edgemont Drive was closed from Mastin Lake to Midwood Lane.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
Once the gas line was repaired, the families were allowed to return to their homes.
