DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

A Morgan County escaped inmate missing for over a week has been captured.

Sheriff Ana Franklin said Johnny Wayne Johnson was captured Wednesday morning after nearly two weeks on the run.

Johnson escaped from work detail in Decatur on December 31.

Cullman County officials located his suspected vehicle and impounded it.

Officials with Cullman County and Morgan County dispatched to a home on County Road 698 in Holly Pond. Deputies located Johnson and an accomplice, Valerie Barnett, at the home.

Barnett complied with officials, but Johnson resisted. A K-9 unit was released and Johnson suffered two bite wounds to the head and arm.

Both were arrested. Johnson was charged with escape and Barnett was charged with facilitating escape.

Johnson was treated for his wounds.
