DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -
A Morgan County escaped
inmate missing for over a week has been captured.
Sheriff Ana Franklin said
Johnny Wayne Johnson was captured Wednesday morning after nearly two weeks on
the run.
Johnson escaped from work
detail in Decatur on December 31.
Cullman County officials
located his suspected vehicle and impounded it.
Officials with Cullman
County and Morgan County dispatched to a home on County Road 698 in Holly Pond.
Deputies located Johnson and an accomplice, Valerie Barnett, at the home.
Barnett complied with
officials, but Johnson resisted. A K-9 unit was released and Johnson suffered
two bite wounds to the head and arm.
Both were arrested. Johnson
was charged with escape and Barnett was charged with facilitating escape.
