BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
On Monday U.S. Senator David Vitter, R-LA, insulted one of
his colleagues. "Sadly, Harry Reid has again revealed himself to be an idiot,
this time gravely insulting Gulf Coast residents," Vitter posted on his
On Friday Sen. Reid, D-NV, compared Hurricane's Sandy and
Katrina to one another suggesting that Sandy was worse. "The people of New
Orleans and that area, they were hurt," said Reid. "But nothing in comparison
to what happened to the people of New England."
More than 1,800 people were killed during Katrina and 120
during Sandy. "It doesn't surprise me," says New Orleans area Senator Danny
Martiny, R-Metairie. "I think he's completely out of touch. It's not the
dumbest thing I've ever heard him say but it's up there."
While Reid back-pedaled Monday saying he misquoted the
intent of his remarks and the damage had already been done. "I think its
ignorance on his part trying to make a political statement at the expense of
the people of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, says Rep. Jeff Arnold, D-New
Reid made his comments on Friday while addressing the Full
Senate. He added his frustration to how slowly the federal help is coming for
those hurt by Hurricane Sandy.
