Signs and banners are one way to announce the National Championship, but in South Florida, sand is being used to let people know about the Notre Dame, Alabama game.

Billboards and signs are plastered across the city welcoming fans, but artist John May was hired to build a sand castle behind the hotel where Notre Dame is staying.

It took him and his crew about eight hours to create the masterpiece, and he said they do it using very few tools, mostly just free styling it and using their hands.

"It's exciting to run into, almost like the Superbowl," said May.

May is not the only sand sculptor in the area, though. Another artist is working to create a sand mural.
