MIAMI (WAFF) -
While Alabama loves Nick Saban, some people
in Miami still haven't gotten over the fact that he left his position as the Miami
Dolphins head coach to take charge of the Crimson Tide.
Dolphins fans said that while they're over
the fact that Saban left the team in 2006 after coaching just two season, they're
still not over the way he left.
Saban denied until the very last minute that
he was leaving Miami to take on the position of head coach at Alabama.
When he was questioned about the rumors of
him leaving in December 2006, he said,
"I guess I'm going to have to say it; I'm not
going to be the Alabama coach."
Just a few weeks later, Saban met with
Alabama officials, took the job, and the rest is history.
"I'm a fan of his as an excellent coach,
don't get me wrong. He's the best that ever did it, one of the best that ever
did it, but as far as me and the dolphin people, we got a lot of disrespect,
but you forget about that and move on," said Dolphin fan Nate Clay.
Saban doesn't seem to be looking back,
though. He's going for his third national championship as the Alabama head
coach.
However, he has recently come out and said,
looking back, he probably should have handled his departure differently.
