The investigation continues into a fatal plane crash in Walker County that killed three teenagers Tuesday night. Thursday, their friends and family are just trying to make sense of it all.
FOX6 News reporter Christy Hutchings had the opportunity to speak with the family of Brandon Ary on Thursday night. They tell her Brandon had the biggest heart and that he was always thoughtful and caring and above all, the most honest person they know.
At Meeks High School there's a message to Jordan Smith, Jordan Montgomery and Brandon Ary, the three young men killed tragically in Tuesday's plane crash. The school's sign says "We love and miss you" and lists the teens' names. Those who knew the young men well say they were all good Christian boys.
"He was an amazing person," Brooke Ary said.
Brooke still can't believe her brother is gone. Brandon, nicknamed Bo from a young age, often went flying with his friends. So when he left Tuesday, no one thought much of it. But as the night went on, his mom began to worry. Brandon wasn't answering his phone.
"I called and texted him and didn't hear nothing so I knew something was wrong, but I was trying to be strong for mom telling her everything would be OK," Brooke said.
They drove up to the airport to look for Brandon's truck.
"We couldn't see it because it was so dark. I was like, see they were just having fun," Brooke said.
But a few hours later, their fears became reality. A plane had crashed and Brandon's truck was still at the airport.
"Daddy called the sheriff's office and asked if any of them had made it. And I knew by the look on his face, I knew none of them had," Brooke said. "I was shocked. I was like, this isn't real. It can't be. My brother is going to come home."
Early reports indicated the plane was stolen. However, everyone reporter Christy Hutchings has spoken with say that is not the case.
The AP reported Friday that the plane involved in the crash was not registered to fly with the FAA.
