HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
The BCS Championship game will become a nice taste of home for more than 100 Alabama soldiers.
Thursday, "Tide for Troops" passed out Crimson Tide t-shirts to members of the 128th MP Company as they prepared to ship out.
For the next nine months, 171 of them will be stationed at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba.
"Anything to boost the morale of soldiers leaving their family members and loved ones for nine months," said Johnnie Scott. "Just to show that the community supports us. It always boosts our morale."
Tide for Troops was founded just last month to show the community's support for America's service members.
The shirts are paid for entirely with public donations.
