HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
A young boy was taken to the hospital after he was struck by a car Thursday morning.
The incident happened just before 10 a.m. at Triana and Drake. Police said a woman and her son were crossing the street when the boy darted into traffic and was struck by a Chevy Suburban.
The vehicle then left the scene of the accident.
The boy was taken to Huntsville Hospital Women's and Children in serious condition. He is currently being evaluated.
The driver, Conspecion Gomez, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, driving without a license and not having insurance.
Police are investigating the crash as an accident.
