GROSSE TETE, LA (WAFB) -
A North Carolina man was killed after veering off I-10 East and into traffic on I-10 West Wednesday night.
The victim was identified as Christopher Attinelli, 47, of Charlotte.
The wreck happened near Grosse Tete around 9 p.m. and shut down I-10 West until 12:30 a.m.
The Louisiana State Police said the 1998 Ford Mustang the victim was driving went off I-10 East, across the median and into oncoming traffic on I-10 West.
Troopers said a 2000 Toyota truck slammed into the passenger side of Attinelli's car and the impact caused him to be thrown out.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two people in the truck suffered only minor injuries.
A sample of Attinelli's blood was sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
