HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Six intoxicated drivers were arrested during a New Year's Eve checkpoint.
Huntsville Police reported six DUI arrests, one misdemeanor arrest, 43 citations and two impound at the Church Street and Pratt checkpoint.
The checkpoint was an effort by the Huntsville Police to keep drivers safe during the holiday break. Police set up a series of checkpoints across the city.
In addition to making sure drivers were sober, officers checked to make sure drivers had their licenses and registration.
Officers also made sure drivers and passengers wore seatbelts.
