MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
A Marshall County district
attorney who fights to put bad guys away is now on a mission of salvation. He's
heading off on a spiritual journey to India.
Not in the sense of building
homes or providing medical assistance, but rather he's going to minister Christianity
to those in a largely Hindu culture.
Steve Marshall is a prosecutor
who spends most of his time in a courtroom seeking justice for crime victims. But
for the next couple of weeks he's trading the comforts of home for nights on a
concrete floor with no heat or running water.
He's going to a remote part of Northwest
India near the Himalayan Mountains.
Marshall and a half-dozen other
people from Albertville's Lifepoint Church will be working under the radar as
missionaries to preach Christianity.
It's something he feels called to do and expects it to be a
life-changing experience.
"Appreciate the nature of my
faith and what I've had an opportunity to do, but probably gives me a greater
appreciation of what God has given me here, the opportunity he's giving me in
the position that I hold to be able to demonstrate my faith and hopefully makes
me a better father, better husband, and a better person that lives with Christ,"
he said.
Marshall said they will be
visiting a Leper community as well as a children's orphanage.
They leave for their trip on
Wednesday morning.
