A
Marshall County family is picking up the pieces left by a holiday fire. Their home
was trashed and a Christmas gift, a puppy, died.
It
happened Sunday afternoon off Nelson Road in the City of Albertville.
Certainly, the family is happy they're all alive, but at the same time, they're
saddened by the loss of a puppy one of the children received for Christmas.
Family
members believe it started in the home's utility room. Carol Ash said she was
asleep and her daughter was in the shower when her grandson told them the house
was on fire.
Everyone
in the home quickly made it outside to safety. But, by the time they were able
to call fire crews, flames and smoke had already swept through the home and
nearly everything they had is gone.
Ash
said it's just heartbreaking to lose everything you just got for Christmas, as
well as feeling the heartbreak her grandson had of losing his puppy.
"He
felt really bad and he was worrying about his toys because his toys, everything
he got for Christmas, got destroyed also. But, you know, we have God on our
side and we're going to re-do and we'll have something. It takes time, but we
will rebuild."
Albertville
Fire Marshal Westley Bynum said they're still investigating the cause of the
fire.
