MADISON, AL (WAFF) -
Equipment failure caused a major power outage in Madison on Sunday.
The power outage extended from Research Park Boulevard west to the Madison County Line and from Capshaw Road south to the Tennessee River.
Madison, Triana, Huntsville Jetport Industrial Complex and much of Cummings Research Park were affected.
Power was restored to Western Madison County by 11:15 a.m.
Madison Police said all traffic lights in the city were impacted. Drivers should treat any non-functioning traffic signals as four way stops until power is fully restored.
Officials said equipment at a substation in the area failed, causing the outage.
Some areas may continue to experience outages as crews repair the equipment.
