MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
Live WAFF 48 StormTracker Doppler radar is showing a large area of rain moving into the Valley.
With temperatures hovering near the freezing mark across most of North Alabama, we could see a mixed bag of wintry precipitation as we head through the noon hour.
Light snow, sleet and even some patches of freezing rain may move across the area before it changes to all rain by this afternoon. Widespread travel issues are not expected, but keep an eye on your local conditions and remain alert to rapidly changing weather conditions.
This afternoon the system will continue to spread rain across the valley that will last into the overnight hours. Temperatures will reach the mid to upper 40's today and lows tonight won't drop off too much, falling to near 40 in most locations. Saturday we'll see some sunshine for the first time in a few days although highs will remain in the lower 40's.
The extended forecast shows temperatures remaining a little below average for this time of the year with our next chance for rain coming in on New Year's Day.
