MUSCLE SHOALS, AL (AP) -
Authorities say a Muscle Shoals police officer is on administrative leave after a deer was shot and killed on federal property.
Muscle Shoals Police Chief Robert Evans said
Wednesday the officer had been placed on administrative leave with pay
while the shooting is under investigation.
The TimesDaily reports that the deer was killed while the officer was on duty over the weekend.
Evans declined to release details of the incident or the officer's name.
Tennessee Valley Authority spokesman Scott Brooks
said shooting took place Sunday morning on Tennessee Valley Authority
property, and the investigation has been turned over to state
conservation authorities.
Mike Pollard, assistant chief of enforcement of the
Alabama Department of Conservation's Game and Fisheries Division, said
no charges have been filed.
