'Tis the season for unauthorized credit card transactions

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

You have probably swiped your credit card more times this holiday season than you can remember and you could be spending more money than you intended.

In the hustle and bustle, it is very easy to miss fraudulent charges, hidden fees, duplicate charges, and cash back fees on your bill.

It is also a common time for identity theft and credit card theft.

That is why the Better Business Bureau is encouraging people to carefully check their credit card statements.

"Right now people have increased their spending and they are in a holiday rush so they may not be paying as much attention. You are going to have a lot of entries and you may not be checking them as carefully as you should. It really is important that you do, because we would hate for someone to pay something they are not supposed to," said Michele Mason with the North Alabama Business Bureau.

She says the easiest way to make sure you are not paying more than you should is to hang on to all receipts and match them with every charge.
