FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

The holiday season is all about giving.

Santa and Mrs. Claus paid a visit to more than 100 kids on Friday for the Marriott's second annual Lunch with Santa.

Santa took a lunch break from the North Pole and spent some time in Florence today.

Over 100 kids ages 3 to 9 were treated to a special lunch with Santa, Mrs. Claus and an elf.

The Marriott partnered with the Salvation Army to invite families in need of Christmas cheer.

"When we choose we stop and think who might appreciate this, who might appreciate a visit with Santa, in some cases it might be a family who had some tragedy or some bad happenstance during the year; so we think this will be the pick me up to do them good," said Major Jean Wilson with the Salvation Army.

Forget the food or the presents. At the end of the day, each kid's favorite part was, of course, seeing Santa Claus.

"Some children would never have an opportunity like this otherwise," said Wilson.

The Florence Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs also helped to make the event a success.
