HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A Madison County judge set a January 11th hearing date for the parties involved in a civil lawsuit filed after a fatal chase in Huntsville.

Darren Spurlock died in a crash on Redstone Arsenal in May 2008. His vehicle was hit by a car driven by Valerie Cox.

Cox was fleeing from police officers and ran through the gates of Redstone Arsenal.

Officers tried to stop Cox after witnessing a drug deal.

Cox pleaded guilty to Second Degree Murder. She is currently in Tutwiler Prison.

Spurlock's widow, Kelly, filed a civil lawsuit against the City of Huntsville and the agencies involved in the chase.

Several defendants filed a motion for a summary judgement, asking the court to rule on this case.

A hearing is scheduled at the Madison County Courthouse on January 11th.
