HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
A man was killed when he was hit by an 18-wheeler on I-565.
It happened just after 10 a.m. Thursday in the westbound lane at Glenn Hearn Boulevard.
Police said 51-year-old Theodore Shelton of Arkansas was changing a flat tire on the side of the interstate just before the collision. Witnesses said the tire rolled out into the road, and Shelton was hit by an 18 wheeler when he chased after the tire.
Two of the three lanes of westbound I-565 were blocked while crews worked the scene, and traffic was backed up.
Police said the driver of the 18-wheeler will not face charges.
