LAWRENCE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A Courtland teen was arrested for allegedly making threats to R.A. Hubbard School.

Lawrence County officials said school resource officers reported Corinthian Carnell Gilchrist, 18, made comments that he was going to harm students and teachers at the school.

Gilchrist is a student at the school.

Officials said no acts of violence were committed, but they took the threat serious enough to take as a credible danger.

The SRO arrested Gilchrist Tuesday and charged him with making a terrorist threat, which is a Class C felony.

Sheriff Gene Mitchell said that in light recent events, his officers are not taking any threats lightly.

The school did not go into lockdown since he was removed from campus immediately.

Gilchrist told police he was only asking questions, not making statements. Superintendent Heath Grimes said making a threat of any kind will result in disciplinary action.

"These types of things cannot be tolerated. You cannot say them in any matter because we as officials have a duty to protect our students, so anything will be taken seriously," said Grimes.

Gilchrist is in the Lawrence County Jail with no bond set at this time.
