CHEROKEE, AL (WAFF) -
Seven fire trucks responded to the scene of a house fire in Cherokee Saturday.
The fire broke out at 1050 Mulberry Lane in Colbert County. A firefighter on the scene said they were calling in tankers from Lauderdale County to assist.
One person was flown to Children's Hospital in unknown condition. Two people were taken to area hospitals.
Crews battled the fire for nearly four hours before they could enter and sweep the home. Once inside, they found the bodies of Angela Long, 51 and her great nephew Chamas Bowie, 5.
Long was found in the bedroom and the boy was found in the back of the home.
Coroner Carlton Utley said the bodies were sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for identification.
Officials have not released the cause of the fire.
