FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

Before the two NCAA Division II teams, Valdosta State and Winston-Salem State, meet on the field, they took some time to meet with school kids.

Players from both teams split up to visit several schools in the Shoals on Friday.

The players got a chance to talk to students about staying in school and getting an education. They read a few books to them and even got to play a few games.

"It's a great feeling to experience before a football game. It just shows you how important you are to younger children and how much of an influence you can have on someone's life. It brings you back down to earth," said Regginald Lewis, a player from Valdosta State.

Kickoff is set for noon Saturday at Braly Stadium in Florence.
