DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -
Alabama's community colleges are asking the state for more money.
The 29 percent increase would add up to about $408-million for the 2013-14 budget.
The colleges currently have a $316-million budget from the education trust fund.
According to the system's website, about 100,000 people enroll in community colleges for credit courses.
Governor Robert Bentley gave his opinion about the funding requests.
"We want to adequately fund work force training, and we want to fund our two year college systems, but certainly everyone wants more money. And we're going to have money this year in education appropriations," he said.
Bentley said they'll have to look at all the funding requests and see where the money will best be utilized.
