A late night hostage standoff in Etowah County ended peacefully. It happened just before midnight Tuesday at a home on Lakewood Drive in Rainbow City.
Sheriff Todd Entrekin says deputies were trying to serve a robbery warrant on 22 year old Brian Mason Carnes when he barricaded himself inside the home. Two other people were inside the house with Carnes when the deputies arrived. They were held hostage briefly before being released unharmed.
Etowah County deputies, Rainbow City Police, Gadsden Police and Alabama State Troopers converged on the scene and talked with Carnes for about three hours before he surrendered.
He's being held in the Etowah County jail, awaiting transfer to Calhoun County to face the robbery charge.
