COLBERT COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
An accused murderer pleaded not guilty to five counts of capital murder.
Derek Burt went before a Colbert County judge Tuesday for his arraignment.
Burt sat between his attorneys. He answered a few basic questions for the judge and was silent otherwise.
He then hung his head low, watching everyone inside the courtroom as the indictments were read.
Deputies arrested Burt this summer, charging him in the 2008 shooting death of Harry Ricks.
