HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Christmas came early for dozens of valley kids, members of Operation Christmas Bear teamed up with the North Alabama Veteran's Coalition and held a special event for families with members deployed overseas.
The event was held at the Jaycees building in Huntsville. Kids received food, Christmas gifts and some face painting.
Event organizers said this event is to thank those soldiers as well as their families who serve our country.
"It was an opportunity to thank soldiers and their families who are deployed and who are at other places and unable to be home at a time when we historically get together and celebrate family," said Rodney Pennywell, event coordinator.
During the festivities, the kids received a special visit from Santa Claus.
