The NFL has made it very clear that Saints head coach Sean Payton cannot have any communication with the organization while serving his one year suspension for his part in the team's "bounty" scandal.
If Payton was caught talking to the Saints he would definitely be risking long-term unemployment from the league. It would be without a doubt a very risky move on his part, but don't tell that to the New York Giants.
In a New York Times report, several Giants players made it clear they believe Payton has been talking to coaches and players.
Former Saints punter Steve Weatherford expressed a common sentiment when he said, "Of course he will get his message to them somehow." He added, "I'm not saying anything about Sean Payton as a person or anything, but I think any coach would do that. It's not like he's just going to sit at home and watch the games and not have any thoughts. His message will be heard."
The Saints and the NFL have both declined comment.
The Saints travel to New York to play the Giants Sunday, with kickoff at 3:25pm.
