DOYLINE, LA (KSLA) -
The evacuation order for the area surrounding Camp Minden has been lifted.
Authorities overseeing the relocation of 6 million pounds of improperly stored propellant believe the danger zone is now inside the gates of Camp Minden.
Crews have been working for 7 days to relocate the combustible powder, found during a recent inspection by a Louisiana State Police investigator following up on an October 15 explosion on properly leased by Explo Systems, Inc.
As of Thursday evening, nearly 200,000 pounds of the improperly stored M6 propellant had been relocated to approved storage magazines, bringing the total to about 2.2 million pounds.
Operations to relocate the rest were suspended on Friday at Noon and are scheduled to resume on Monday. Restrictions for parts of Camp Minden will remain in effect until the operation is concluded.
School in Doyline will remain closed through Friday and reopen on Monday. A tournament scheduled for Friday night at Doyline High School has been moved to Lakeside High School.
Polling for Saturday's run-off election will still be at Lakeside Baptist Church.
