MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
The WAFF 4820th annual Can-a-Thon kicked off Thursday morning.
There are dozens of donation sites across North Alabama and one in Tennessee.
Since the first WAFF 48 Holiday Can-a-thon in 1992, WAFF 48 and its partners have collected more than 3 million canned food items.
This food has helped many families throughout the Valley and has become an important source of donations for agencies whose mission is to help the needy.
All of the food collected stays in the community it was donated in.
As of 9 p.m., more than 140,000 cans had been collected.
You can find drop off locations here and you can also send pictures to pix@waff.com.
